The case of sexual violence by three young men against a 14-year-old girl in the village of Verkhni Vorota has entered the stage of a new appeal. The lawyers of the three convicted boys are trying for the second time to appeal the sentence, according to which their clients received 6 years of real imprisonment.
Recall that the crime occurred in 2021. Three young men raped the girl, they filmed the process on video, and then distributed the video on social networks. In 2023, the Volovets court assigned the attackers only a probationary (probationary) term. Public outrage over this led to a review of the case, but the defense tried to delay the process. In particular, the defendants tried to avoid responsibility through mobilization.
The defense is now again trying to appeal the 6-year sentence, but lawyers from the Miller law firm and the JurFem association are preparing to defend the current sentence. It provides for 6 years in prison and payment of 300,000 UAH in compensation to the victim.
