The Belarusian parliament has approved a bill introducing administrative liability for the “propaganda of LGBTQ+ relationships, gender transition, and refusal of parenthood (childfree).” As reported by BelTA and Nasha Niva, the document also equates these topics with the promotion of pedophilia.
Under the new regulations, violations are punishable by fines ranging from 900 to 6,700 Belarusian rubles (approximately UAH 13,000 to 100,000). If authorities determine that minors were exposed to such information, higher fines may apply, along with administrative arrest or community service.
The Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office, which initiated the changes, has described LGBTQ+ people and childfree supporters as “opponents seeking to destroy the country.” In effect, the law mirrors similar legislation adopted in Russia.
