According to Variety, the upcoming project will be based on a book by Julie K. Brown, whose reporting helped identify more than 80 victims and uncover a secret plea deal between Jeffrey Epstein and federal prosecutors.
The story will focus on Brown’s persistence as she spent years gathering testimonies from survivors and challenging a legal system that enabled the sexual offender. Laura Dern will play the lead role and also serve as an executive producer.
The project’s producers include Adam McKay (The Big Short) and Kevin Messick. The series will be run by showrunners Sharon Hoffman and Eileen Myers.
At this stage, Sony Pictures Television is searching for a streaming platform or network to launch production.
