The heir to the Dutch throne, Princess Catharina-Amalia, has officially joined the Royal Netherlands Air Force. According to the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands, she has been granted the rank of corporal and is currently serving as a military student trainee.
Amalia’s military path began with general training at Defensity College, which she successfully completed in January 2026. In addition to field training, she completed an internship at the Administrative Staff of the Ministry of Defence in The Hague, where she studied military strategic management.
Her mother, Queen Máxima, is also affiliated with the military and currently serves in the Army Reserve.
