German actress and TV presenter Collien Fernandes has accused her ex-husband, actor and director Christian Ulmen, of creating and distributing pornographic deepfakes using her face.
According to Fernandes, Ulmen allegedly created fake profiles in her name, through which he communicated with other men, arranged virtual sexual encounters, and sent them AI-generated intimate photos and videos. This reportedly continued for several years until Fernandes contacted the police.
The investigation in Germany was initially closed due to a “lack of evidence.” However, following reporting by Der Spiegel and an investigation by BBC, prosecutors in Itzehoe reopened the case.
Fernandes has now filed a lawsuit against her former husband in Spain, where they previously lived. She explained that Spanish legislation on gender-based violence is stricter than in Germany, which she described as a “haven for abusers.”
Christian Ulmen has not publicly commented on the allegations. His lawyers, however, strongly deny the claims and have announced legal action against Der Spiegel.
